Gothic Font Generator
Type a line and get it in the heavy, pointed lettering of old newspaper mastheads. Two gothic alphabets lead the list, and everything else follows below.
This swaps your letters for special characters. It is not a font file, and some screen readers read it badly, so keep it to decoration.

Example
The line Hello, world, in this style:
Three names, one look
What people call gothic, Old English or blackletter is the style Unicode calls Fraktur, after German printing. To confuse things, typographers also use "gothic" for plain sans-serif faces such as Franklin Gothic, which look nothing like this.
Fraktur and bold fraktur
Plain fraktur is the lighter one. Bold fraktur is thicker and survives small sizes better, and it also has digits. Plain fraktur leaves numbers as they were.
Capitals with a past
In plain fraktur, C, H, I, R and Z are older symbols that were in Unicode before the Fraktur alphabet was added. They match on most devices. If one looks off, switch to bold fraktur, which has no exceptions.
Not for skin or print
Blackletter is hard to read in lowercase even when it is set well, and these are pasted characters with no control over spacing. For a tattoo, a logo or anything printed, use a proper blackletter font and show the result to a designer first.
Questions
Is gothic the same as Old English?
People use the names for the same look. Old English Text is also the name of one specific font, which is not what you get here.
Why does it look thin on my screen?
Your device draws these characters with whichever font it has for them, so weight and spacing differ from device to device.
Can I put it in a game name?
Sometimes. Plenty of games allow only plain letters and numbers, so try pasting it first.
